What is "Sasser"?
Recently a worm has been spreading to millions of computers throughout the
world. This worm, called the Sasser worm exploits Windows and unlike a virus
that spreads through email, this worm can spread itself through the internet to
newer versions of Windows.
What Does It Do?
Because it is taking lots of resources from the host computer to replicate
itself, it typically slows down the computer severely and it has been known to
shut down and reboot the affected computer several times. Once infected, you
may not be able to install the required removal tools and patches via the
internet.
Are You Infected?
Only Windows XP or Windows 2000 systems can be infected,
however, the worm can run on Windows 95/98/Me and use these
machines to look for vulnerable Windows 2000/XP machines.
